Invitation to Submit Argument For or Against the Silver Meadows Annexation

To: Residents of the Town of Hideout

On October 16, 2020, the Town Council of Hideout voted to annex the Silver Meadows Annexation of approximately 350 Acres. A referendum petition was filed and was found sufficient. The referendum will be considered by the voters of the Town of Hideout at a Special Election to be held on June 22, 2021. The question on the ballot, which will be designated as Proposition #3, shall read:

Proposition #3:

On October 16, 2020, the Town Council of Hideout passed Ordinance No. 2020-10 which annexed the Silver Meadows Annexation of approximately 350 Acres into the Town of Hideout Boundary and Amended the Official Zoning Map. This annexation will take effect only if approved by the voters.

Hideout is preparing a Voter Information Pamphlet which will be mailed, sent or posted prior to the election. This pamphlet will include arguments for and against the Silver Meadows Annexation.

Any eligible voter may request to submit an argument for or against the annexation in accordance with Utah State Code §20A-7-402. Requests to submit an argument must be filed with the election officer (Hideout Town Clerk) no later than April 19, 2021 at 5:00 pm. If more than one eligible voter requests the opportunity to prepare a written argument for or against the referendum, the Town Clerk shall make the final designation in accordance with the following order of priority:

(i) sponsors have priority in preparing an argument regarding a special local ballot proposition; and

(ii) members of the local legislative body have priority over others if a majority of the local legislative body supports the written argument.

Requests may be submitted at the Hideout Town Hall, located at 10860 N. Hideout Trail, Hideout, UT or emailed to afairbourne@hideoututah.gov. For more information, please contact the town clerk at 435-640-2188 during regular business hours.

After receiving the requests to submit an argument, the Town Clerk will determine the priority of who will submit arguments by April 23,2021. Once priority is determined, the arguments not to exceed 500 words will be due no later than April 28, 2021.
