Hideout, Utah – April 16, 2025 – Hideout Mayor Phil Rubin has announced his resignation and submitted the following statement to the Town:
As a result of health issues, I am resigning from the office of Hideout Mayor effective Monday, April 14, 2025.
I wish the Town continued success and appreciate all the wonderful progress made by staff and elected officials while I was Mayor.
Mayor Rubin has served the town of Hideout for the past seven years. He was originally elected in 2017 and re-elected in 2021. He has overseen Hideout during a period of tremendous growth and transformational change.
Town officials expressed their gratitude to Mayor Rubin for his contributions to the long term success of Hideout and wished him improved health as he enters the next chapter of his life.
Current Mayor Pro Tempore and Town Council Member Chris Baier will preside over Town Council meetings and fulfill other mayoral duties until an interim mayor is appointed by the Town Council. The interim mayor will serve through the end of 2025.
The Town Council will hold a Special Meeting on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in Hideout Town Hall to vote on Mayor Rubin’s interim replacement. Each candidate will be interviewed by the Town Council during this public meeting.
Those interested in being considered for this appointment must submit their name to the Hideout Recorder, Alicia Fairbourne via email at afairbourne@hideoututah.gov. The deadline to submit names for consideration is Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Candidates must be a primary resident of Hideout for a minimum of 12 months prior to May 12, 2025. All prospective candidates will be asked to complete a conflict of interest and financial disclosure form before the deadline.
The next mayor will be elected for a four-year term during the upcoming general election in November 2025. Qualified candidates must file a Declaration of Candidacy and submit any potential conflicts of interest in person at Hideout Town Hall between June 2-6, 2025.
