The Town of Hideout invites all residents to participate in a General Plan Open House to help shape the town’s future. The event will serve as the next step in the year-long process to update the Town’s 2019 General Plan and will be held on Thursday, 09/25/25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Black Rock Mountain Resort.
This event is a key part of the town’s initiative to update its 2019 General Plan, a foundational document that guides growth, development, and policy-making. With significant community changes and anticipated growth over the next five years, the update will ensure the General Plan remains a relevant and strategic tool for Hideout’s future.
“Since the last General Plan was adopted in 2019, Hideout has experienced significant growth, which brings both new opportunities and challenges,” said Jan McCosh, Town Administrator of Hideout. “This update is a crucial step to ensure our guiding principles reflect the community’s collective vision for the future. The open house is a key opportunity for residents to share their priorities, and we strongly encourage everyone to participate.”
Hideout’s general plan update will include an extensive community engagement and planning process. This process is being partially funded through a generous grant from the Mountainland Association of Governments (MAG). The community engagement effort will be facilitated by the team at Citi Design, an experienced community planning consultancy in coordination with the Town of Hideout’s elected officials and professional staff. The goal of the work will be to address critical aspects of the town’s development, including land use, housing, transportation, and environmental preservation.
“We are honored to partner with the Town of Hideout on this vital General Plan update,” said Jake Young, Community Planner and Landscape Architect from Citi Design who is helping lead the public engagement process. “Our team is excited to work alongside the community to help create a vision, develop long-term strategies, and identify actionable steps that will shape a successful and resilient future for the town.”
